TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR THE 2017 TCM CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL

Brooks introducing a 30th anniversary screening of his film BROADCAST NEWS (1987); actor Keir Dullea introducing a screening of Frank Perry’s DAVID AND LISA (1962); Elia Kazan’s AMERICA AMERICA (1963) with star Stathis Giallelis in attendance; and the caper spoof BEAT THE DEVIL (1953) directed by John Huston, with script supervisor Angela Allen discussing her work on the film.Other programming highlights include an 85th anniversary screening of Ernst Lubitsch’s ONE HOUR WITH YOU (1932) as well as his silent film SO THIS IS PARIS (1926) with accompaniment by film composer and pianist Donald Sosin; an 85th anniversary screening of Howard Hughes’ COCK OF THE AIR (1932); an 80th anniversary World Premiere Restoration screening of the Cary Grant and Irene Dunne classic THE AWFUL TRUTH (1937); RAFTER ROMANCE (1933) starring Ginger Rogers; Frank Capra’s hysterical comedy ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1944), also starring Cary Grant; Carole Lombard and John Barrymore’s screwball classic TWENTIETH CENTURY (1934); and a 60th anniversary screening of THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (1957).

In Club TCM, passholders will have a chance to learn more about film critic and historian Leonard Maltin at ASK LEONARD MALTIN; Bruce Goldstein returns as host of his popular annual quiz, SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW MOVIES and will present on THE ART OF SUBTITLING; and Randy Haberkamp and Lynne Kriste return with an all new HOLLYWOOD HOME MOVIES. In addition, historian and author Kliph Nesteroff will discuss mid-century comedy teams with his presentation SECOND BANANAS; and passholders will get a chance to hear from film restoration experts about the challenges of preserving classic films and presenting them to new audiences.
